Darwin to Alice Springs Route (this tour also operates in reverse):
Day 1 – Darwin to Katherine Gorge
Take a break at Adelaide River. Explore Katherine Gorge by canoe, boat or helicopter (all extra expense). Or walk instead to clifftop lookouts over the Gorge. Camp nearby.
Day 2 – Katherine Gorge to Tennant Creek
Swim in the crystal clear thermal springs of Mataranka takes just over an hour. Camp tonight at Mataranka. The Nt's oldest outback pub is at Daly Waters. Did you know the airfield was once the arrival point for Qantas travellers to Australia? Camp near Tennant Creek at Juno Horse Farm.
Day 3 – Tennant Creek to Alice Springs
Devils Marbles – bring plenty of film to get shots of these mysterious granite spheres. There's a historic telegraph station at Barrow Creek. Ti Tree has an excellent Aboriginal art gallery. To cap, we cross the Tropic of Capricorn. Arrive Alice early evening by 6 pm.

Alice Motor Inn/Alice Lodge Backpackers reserves the right to alter the itinerary of any of the tours and arrange alternative carriers to those advertised if necessary. No refunds will be given in these circumstances or in the event of any delay, curtailment or alteration of a trip resulting from any cause including severe weather conditions or mechanical failure.
A minimum number of passengers is required to operate each tour. It may therefore be necessary to cancel a scheduled departure and to offer an alternative or full refund for that tour. Alice Lodge backpackers can’t guarantee pick up or drop off times and are not liable for passenger failure to connect with other services. We accept no responsibility for loss or damage to personal belongings or baggage.
Alice Motor Inn/Alice Lodge Backpackers will charge the following fees in event of booking cancellations: Before 48 Hours -50% of Fare. 24 Hours - 48 Hours-75% of Fare. Within 24 Hours 100% of Fare.
There is a $1 per $100 credit card levy when processing bookings. |
